Urban Underground exhibit opens at the Peoria Art Guild Gallery

Writer's picture: Xavier NuezXavier Nuez

Peoria Art Guild Gallery, Peoria, IL June 28 – July 16, 2014 Urban Underground

Opening reception 1-5 p.m. June 28.

I'm the featured artist in this exhibit which explores urban culture: expansion, decay, and renewal.

What goes on behind closed doors and down back alleys? What gritty secrets lie beneath the glossy façade of shiny downtown? What underground cultures are breeding in the neglected warehouses and empty storefronts of our cities?

The show goes from contemporary to traditional, abstract interpretations to literal.

The show is juried by Christina Cosio, Assistant Director of Exhibitions and Exhibition Studies School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) Sullivan Galleries.

The show features contemporary art from 45 national artist that were selected to exhibit their interpretations of the theme urban underground. To purchase a piece during the exhibit dates, please contact the Peoria Art Guild directly.
